Eastchester's iLoveKickboxing.com Fitness Franchise Helps Its Members "Shred" Some Pounds -- And Ex-Partners -- With "Anti-Valentine's Day" Event

Kickboxers at Eastchester's iLoveKickboxing.com set to "Shred Your Ex" for Valentine's Day

While many places all over town will set up with heart balloons, “two-for-one” specials and pre-fixed meals for couples, the iLoveKickboxing.com fitness studio in Eastchester will hold a different kind of event this Valentine’s Day.

Billed as “Anti-Valentine’s Day” for all of the studio’s single women and men, the fun workout will not only help members “shred” some pounds and fat on Feb. 14, but they’ll also get to “shred” their exes.

“’Shred your Ex’ will allow you to punch all of your exes without being called ‘crazy’ or getting a new Facebook profile photo taken at your local police precinct,” says Chuck and Kara Giangreco, owners of the Eastchester-based franchise.

In iLoveKickboxing fitness classes in Eastchester, members will have the opportunity to tape photos of “old flames” to the kickboxing heavy bags. They’ll punch, kick and land spinning back fists to the photos, all in the name of love (or should we say hate?).

“We wanted to take the opposite approach and do something for those who don’t have a significant other,” the Giangrecos explain.

After discussing various ideas with other iLoveKickboxing.com studio managers across the region and with executives at the franchise, it was decided that doing something different on Valentine’s Day was the way to go.

Other iLoveKickboxing.com franchises across the nation are also holding similar events.

“We tell our members all the time to imagine the face of the person that made them mad that day as they throw their combos at the heavy bags. This gets them really fired up and burning even more calories - and it adds a lot of fun to class too,” say the couple, who also offer adult self-defense classes, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and a children’s martial arts program at the Sunnyside Terrace location.

“Now they won’t have to pretend because the face will be right in front of them!”

“Shred Your Ex” is not a singles-only event, though. Members are also invited to print out photos of their bosses, friends, and anyone they’re not all too happy with. If members don’t have ill feelings toward anyone, the studio will print out random photos in the days leading up to the event, such as drawing mustaches and encouraging members to tear them in two.

The “Shred Your Ex” event joins a long list of other fun and innovative events that are held throughout the year at the Eastchester location, from live DJ events to member mixers and appreciation parties, allowing the fitness franchise to always offer something a little special for its members.
