Emergency Crews Responding to Mysterious Oil Spill in Bronx River

County is unsure how spill got there as booms try to contain it.

County health officials, police and other responders are investigating a mysterious oil slick that appeared on the Bronx River in the Scarsdale area this morning.

Crews are on the water and booms are attempting to lessen the oil's reach but already lethargic fish can be seen floating on the water and the smell of oil is overpowering.

The call first came in around 8:30 a.m. said Kieran O'Leary, a spokesman for Westchester County Police, in the area of exit 21 of the Bronx River Parkway. It's unclear if the oil is a leak from a truck or something more deliberate.
