The Art of Noel DeGaetano: Contrasting Elements

On Sunday May 22, 2011 and running through Saturday, July 16, award winning painter, sculpture and collage artist, Noel DeGaetano will have an exhibit of paintings and sculpture at the Media Loft Gallery, 50 Webster Avenue, in New Rochelle, NY. The public is welcome to attend the opening reception, which will be held from 2 to 6pm. The artist will be present.

Exploring the use and manipulation of new and diverse materials has always been one of the prime objectives in DeGaetano's art. Through this process, the artist has consistently found new ways to help bring viewers to a new level of consciousness and awareness of their relationship to our immediate environment. His work helps observers see and feel a range of emotions: joy, loneliness, fear, the exhilaration of being alive. Using contrasting elements in the work -- hard/ soft, cool / warm, rough/smooth -- all help to bring one to confront and contemplate the many and conflicting elements of being human.

DeGaetano studied at The Art Students League, The School Of Visual Arts, Hunter College, New York University, the Frank Reilly School (for drawing) and the New School For Social Research (painting with Joseph Steffanelli). He has taught and lectured for many years, including at the prestigious Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts on Long Island. DeGaetano's work can be found in the collections of corporations as well as individual patrons.
