Fellow Inmate Says Selwyn Days Admitted Murdering 2 In Eastchester

The two men were in Auburn Correctional Facility in 2008.

EASTCHESTER, NY — An inmate who spent time in prison with Selwyn Days said the man who is facing his fifth trial for a pair of Eastchester murders admitted his guilt.

Franklin Mendez, who was in Auburn Correctional Facility in 2008 with Days, said he had killed Archie Harris, 79, and Betty Ramcharan, his home health aide, in 1996, the Journal News said.

Days was granted a fifth trial for the murders in September 2016. He had been convicted in October 2011 of two counts of felony second-degree murder.

He was not arrested for the murders until February 2001.
