Fire Department Visits The Chapel School
Bronxville, NY- On Monday, October 5th the Eastchester Fire District visited The Chapel School in Bronxville, NY. The students were learning about fire safety and prevention. In 1920, President Woodrow Wilson issued the first National Fire Prevention Day proclamation, and since 1922, Fire Prevention Week has been observed on the Sunday through Saturday period in which October 9 falls.
Lieutenant Thomas Pintavalle along with Firefighters Vincent Dibetetto and Robert Grogan demonstrated fire safety techniques, taught students to “Get Low and Go” and practiced “Stop Drop and Roll”. They learned about smoke detector checks, planning escape routes with their families, and the importance of not hiding in the event of a fire. Students from Preschool through 2nd grade were a part of the fire safety discussions. According to the students, the most exciting part of each session was the opportunity to spray the fire hose! The children enjoyed the visit from the Eastchester Fire District and learned valuable fire safety information.
