Former Bedford Hills Corrections Officer Pleads Guilty to Raping Female Inmate

Richard Rodriguez, 33, a former guard at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, pleaded guilty Wednesday to raping a female inmate at the maximum security prison, Westchester District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced.

The incident occurred in December, 2013, and is automatically considered statutory rape under New York law. He pleaded guilty to a single felony charge of third-degree rape, and he remains free on bond. 

Rodriguez was arrested by New York State Police in July, and he faces a maximum sentence of four years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced in January, 2015.
