Hearing on Dog Licensing in Eastchester Scheduled

The hearing is scheduled for Dec. 21.

A public hearing will be held at the Dec. 21 Eastchester town board meeting to discuss the changes to the proposed dog licensing law, since as of Jan. 1,  the state will no longer handle the program.

According to Town Clerk Linda Doherty, the proposed amendment keeps the same fees, but will change the revenue split between local and state governments.

The license fee for spayed and neutered dogs will remain $10, with $9 staying in local coffers and $1 going to the state, and $18 for unaltered animals, with $15 staying in Eastchester and $3 going to Albany.
