Juan Felipe Herrera, 2015 U.S. Poet Laureate, To Read at Manhattanville College on October 23
Free, open to public reading of "exuberant and socially engaged" verse by the current Poet Laureate of the United States on October 23.

A reading and lecture by the 2015 Poet Laureate of the United States, Juan Felipe Herrera, whose poetry has been described as “exuberant and socially engaged, reflective and healing,” will take place on October 23, 2015 at 7 PM at Reid Castle on Manhattanville College‘s campus in Purchase, NY. The event is free and open to the public.
Herrera, whose most recent book of poetry is Notes on the Assemblage, is the first Latino to hold the prestigious Poet Laureate position. He previously served as California State Poet Laureate. Herrera is the son of migrant farm workers, an experience that strongly shaped some of his work.
He is the author of many collections of poetry, including Senegal Taxi; Half of the World in Light: New and Selected Poems, which received the PEN/Beyond Margins Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award; and 187 Reasons Mexicanos Can’t Cross The Border.
