Lane Closures on Hutchinson River Parkway Beginning Thursday

The Hutch closures in Eastchester, Pelham and Mount Vernon are only in effect weather permitting.

The right lane of the Hutchinson River Parkway southbound is scheduled to be closed in Eastchester, Pelham and Mount Vernon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. beginning tomorrow, July 9, weather permitting.

According to the state Department of Transportation, the closures are expected to last weekdays through Friday, July 17, between Exit 14 (Hutchinson Boulevard) and Exit 7 (U.S. Route 1 Boston Post Road). The move is necessary so crews can perform maintenance activities.

These closures are weather permitting, but drivers may experience delays on those days.

The department urges people to use caution when traveling through the work area and “pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including work zone signs and flaggers.”

Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone, and in accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
