More Scholarship Award Recipients for Class of 2012

VFW Post 2285 of Eastchester-Tuckahoe announced last week this year's scholarship award winners from the three area high schools in Bronxville, Eastchester and Tuckahoe.

 

The class of 2012 continues to rack up a and last week, Lt. Col Sam DiRienzo of VFW Post 2285 announced this year's scholarship awards from our three area high schools, Bronxville, Eastchester and Tuckahoe.

The graduating seniors from each school were selected by the school scholarship committee in recognition of their community and school participation and service.

From Bronxville HS, Steven Chrappa, son of Tina and Stephen Chrappa. From Eastchester HS Wendy Vaz, daughter of Elizabeth and Clifford Vaz and from Tuckahoe HS Olivia Fox, daughter of Patricia and Patrick Fox.

Each of the Senior recipients, their parents and school personnel were invited to attend the scholarship presentation program at the Post Headquarters located at 433 White Plains Road, in Eastchester and each senior was presented their scholarship award in the amount of $750 and spoke of their accomplishments and goals in life, beginning with attending college this fall.

Commander Foster spoke highly of the three recipients and of the desire of the VFW Post 2285 to continue serving our community through various functions and in particular by providing three scholarships to each high school.

In addition to the scholarships awarded to our three graduation seniors from our local high schools, the VFW Post also granted four scholarships to children and or grandchildren of post members.

"We are ever so grateful to our young men and women graduates for all the support we receive from the schools and community throughout the year, stated Commander Foster.

"Our special thanks to the school administrators and local officials, Bronxville Mayor Mary Marvin, Eastchester Supervisor Anthony Colavita, Tuckahoe Mayor Steve Ecklond and County Legislator Sheila Marcotte for their continued support for the veterans of our community," he continued.
