Police Blotter: Home Break Ins, Man Arrested Visiting His Mother & More

Bronxville 

August 6

At approximately 9:35 p.m. the Bronxville Police Department received notice from an alarm company that an activation had occurred at a Homesdale Road residence. Officers responded and discovered a wide-open front door and shattered window on the basement level in the rear of the home, through which entry had been made. Upon further investigation, detectives concluded that the offenders fled after the alarm system was triggered, preventing them from stealing any property or causing further damage to the home. No suspects have been identified at this time. The case was confirmed as a burglary and the detective division is currently following up.

August 7

A Bronxville police officer detained a 63-year-old Bronx resident after his police car-mounted License Plate Reader indicated to the officer that the driver was operating a vehicle with a suspended registration. Further investigation revealed the man’s license was suspended for two reasons: insurance lapse and failure to pay a fine. The man’s car was impounded, and he was directed to return to the Village Court on August 31 at 7 p.m.

August 8

Bronxville Police responded to a call from a Beechwood Road resident after he heard several loud noises at his front door and discovered that three full beer cans had been thrown at his house, shattering several panes of hand-crafted glass in the main entrance of the home. An immediate search of the area yielded no suspects. The value of the damaged class was placed at $1,500. The investigation remains open.

Eastchester

August 2

A man was arrested on three active warrants after attempting to visit his mother on Jackson Ave in Eastchester, even though he was prohibited from doing so. After numerous attempts to see her and numerous warnings, he was arrested on criminal trespassing charges in the third degree.

August 3

Eastchester police officers responded to a reported burglary on New Rochelle Road in Bronxville, after residents came home to find a side door had been forced open. The main possessions stolen from the residence were jewelry and personal papers. The case is still under investigation.

August 4

A 17-year-old man was arrested after an altercation with a Gulf Express attendant on White Plains Road in Eastchester. The defendant attempted to buy a cigar, and when the attendant refused because he failed to show ID shoved him and struck him in the arm. He was arrested for harassment in the second degree, a violation.

Tuckahoe

August 4

A Tuckahoe man turned himself in on an active New York State warrant for declaration of delinquency charges in conjunction with a 2008 incident. He was arraigned in Tuckahoe by an Eastchester judge and released on bail.
