Police Blotter: Larcenies at Construction Site and CVS, Slashed Tires & More

Bronxville

Aug. 26

A Shrewsbury, MA resident reported her Trek brank bicycle, valued at $700, was stolen from a bicycle rack located on Morange Square. According to the ower, the bicycle had been secured with a chain at approximately 9 a.m. and was missing when she returned to retrieve it later that day at 5:30 p.m.

Aug. 28

A Northway resident reported that all four tires of his Ford vehicle were slashed sometime during the overnight hours between Aug 27 and 28. According to the resident, the vehicle was secured in his driveway during the time frame, and several beer cans were also found strewn about his lawn. No further damage to the vehicle or other property was reported at the time. The value of the tires is unknown.

Another Northway resident reported that all four tires on his Volvo vehicle were slashed during that same time period. The vehicle was again parked in his driveway and there was no further damage to the vehicle or other property. The value of the tires is again unknown.

Tuckahoe

Aug. 31

Tuckahoe Police received a call around 5:30 p.m. from a Lake Ave resident after it was reported that two objects purchased online from Walmart.com had never been delivered to the customer’s home. After it was confirmed by FedEx that both purchases had in fact been delivered, it was determined by Tuckahoe Police that the items were most likely stolen from the front of the customer’s home. The missing items were an air conditioning unit, valued at $212, and a dresser, valued at $290. A report was taken for insurance purposes. No suspects have been identified at this time.

Sept. 1

The Tuckahoe Police Department received a call from North Castle Police around 1 p.m. informing them that a man was being detained after a traffic stop due to an outstanding warrant under Tuckahoe jurisdiction. A Tuckahoe Police detective, accompanied by a Tuckahoe Police squad car, traveled to North Castle to arrest 45-year-old Jose Cruz, who in April 2010 was believed to have stolen an air bag from a 2006 Honda parked on Lake Ave. Cruz, whose last registered address is 25 Valley Road in Wappingers Falls, NY, was charged with grand larceny in the 4^th degree and criminal mischief in the 3^rd degree, and eventually transported to County jail.

Eastchester

Aug. 30

The project manager at the Eastchester Fire House under construction on Wilmot Road reported a copper leader missing from the side of the building around 10:30 a.m. The 30-foot leader was not attached, and a search of the site turned up empty. The item was eventually reported stolen, and police believe the culprits will attempt to turn it in as scrap material in return for money. The cost of the leader is unknown at this time and no suspects have been identified.

Sept. 1

A Longview Drive resident reported their 2009 Lexus R35 stolen from their driveway. The owner of the vehicle told Eastchester police the vehicle was stolen between midnight the previous night and 8 a.m. September 1. No suspects have been identified at this time and a report was taken.

Sept. 2

The Eastchester Police Department received a 911 call at 7:21 p.m. from the CVS on 375 White Plains Road after the store manager witnessed an attempted larceny by two female suspects. The two suspects were attempting to leave the establishment with a bag of merchandise without paying, before the manager confronted them at the door and attempted to block their exit. The two females dropped the bag containing the stolen goods, valued at $367.22, and fled the area. An investigation is still pending.

Sept. 4

A Chester Heights resident in Eastchester reported finding the tires of his car slashed around 6 p.m. The vehicle was parked in the Lockwood Ave lot. Upon arrival, Eastchester police discovered that another car in the same lot had also had its tires slashed. The case was declared an act of criminal mischief and a report was taken. No suspects have been identified at this time.
