Police Blotter: Strange September for Local Police Departments

Tuckahoe

Sept. 9

Tuckahoe police received a call around 12:30 p.m. of a man on Main Street blocking traffic, yelling at commuters and generally acting in a disorderly manner. Responding officers arrived on scene to find a familiar resident leaning on his vehicle parked on Main Street smoking a cigarette. The man told officers he was “happy, in a good mood, and singing.” Officers advised the man to leave the area, which he did. No further action was taken.

Sept. 10

Tuckahoe police received a call from an elderly woman living on Jefferson Place around 9:30 a.m., who reported that some of her property was missing from her apartment. Upon further investigation, the victim also reported that she believed her landlord was monitoring her through video cameras mounted in the apartments’ light switches, and that he was using the video surveillance to steal from her. She also told police officers that her old landlord from New York City was in on the plot to steal her possessions. After reassuring the elderly woman that nothing had been taken from her apartment, police officers notified her family, who has taken over her care.

Eastchester

Sept. 14

Eastchester police received a call from the security department at the Lord & Taylor at 750 White Plains Road notifying them that a shoplifting suspect was being detained. Responding officers eventually arrested a female shoplifter, who was apprehended after she attempted to leave the building with $938.99 worth of clothes concealed in her purse and a Macy’s bag she was carrying. Suspect was charged with petty larceny, released on $250 bail and asked to appear back in court on September 21.

Sept. 14

Eastchester police responded to a call from a Mill Road resident who reported seeing a parked car on the street with an unspecified amount of marijuana on the front seat. Responding officers made contact with the vehicle in question, and could observe the contraband, however the owner of the vehicle had apparently left the premises. After setting up a surveillance perimeter, officers on the scene observed a suspect returning to the vehicle, at which time they approached him and asked him about the marijuana. The suspect admitted to the possession, however he then proceeded to attempt to conceal an amount of the marijuana, leading to charges of unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, and tampering with physical evidence, an E felony.

Bronxville

Sept. 14

Bronxville Police Officer James Mazzucca stopped Aldredo Guerrero, a 31 year-old resident of Newcastle, Utah, who was found to be operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license on White Plains Road, an unclassified misdemeanor. Guerrero was issued multiple summonses, and is due in the Village of Bronxville Justice Court in November to answer the charges.
