Question: Should Bert and Ernie Get Married?
Your chance to contribute to Patch's Question of the Day.

An online petition to allow Sesame Street characters Bert & Ernie to get married on the show is quickly gaining supporters, and today has over 7,000 signatures.
The aim of the petition is to educated young children and foster acceptance and tolerance for people who are different than them. In response to the request, the producers of Sesame Street have released a statement on the show’s Facebook page:
Bert and Ernie are best friends. They were created to teach preschoolers that people can be good friends who those who are different form themselves.

Even though they are identified as male characters and possess many human traits and characterisitcs (as most Sesame Street Muppets™ do), they remain puppets, and do not have a sexual orientation.
So here is our question: How do you teach your kids about tolerance, and should TV shows like Sesame Street share in that responsibility? Would it be right for Sesame Street producers to have Bert & Ernie get married on the show? Should more kids TV shows follow suit?
