Re-Elected Tuckahoe Mayor Speaks Out

On the heels of winning re-election, Tuckahoe Mayor Steve Ecklond is talking about his plans for our village and how it feels to serve another term. The Republican mayor ran unopposed in the Tuesday election.

Here is what Ecklond had to say in his Q&A with Patch:

Patch: What is the biggest challenge facing Tuckahoe right now?

Mayor Ecklond: The biggest challenge we face is maintaining the high level of services we deliver to our residents with the diminished available funds we have after paying for the unfunded state mandates.

Patch: How does it make you feel that you now have the opportunity, once again, to shape the village's future?

Ecklond: I am very humbled to have the support of so many Village residents.   Receiving the office of mayor of any village is a big responsibility. Receiving the office of mayor in Tuckahoe, the community where my family has lived for over 100, is truly a great honor.

I recognize that in a person's life there are segments that identify them, and for the short time that I am privileged to have this position, I am motivated to do the very best I can to move the Village in the right direction.

Patch: What do you feel makes Tuckahoe the best place to live in Westchester?

Ecklond: Simply stated, it's the people. We do our part at the Village level to keep our community clean and safe, but at the end of the day it's the great people who live here who make this the greatest place to live in Westchester.
