Release: Irene Update from Village of Tuckahoe

Dear Tuckahoe Neighbor,

As everyone is aware the National Weather service is projecting that Hurricane Irene will hit our area this weekend.

Heavy rain will begin Saturday afternoon and go through Monday, with the worst impact of the storm projected to hit us Sunday.

Attached are planning / safety reminders from the Red Cross in addition to a flyer I made up that you can post in your buildings and distribute to your residents as additional safety / precautionary measures.

As well, the Tuckahoe Building Department wanted me to remind everyone to let your residents know if they have items on their balconies / terraces / patios, to bring them inside for their safety and the safety of others.

In addition, our Tuckahoe Police Department and DPW is in communication with the Westchester County Department of Emergency Management, along with all other Westchester municipalities, utilities and the Red Cross and will continue to closely monitor the status and forecasted track of Hurricane Irene.

Further information for our public will be available on our cable government access channel (Ch. 75 Cablevision / Ch. 26 Verizon) and village website (www.tuckahoe.com<http://www.tuckahoe.com/>) regarding safe haven locations if necessary, and other pertinent information.
