Release: Popham Road Bridge Closure

The Town of Eastchester has released the following statement concerning construction on Popham Road Bridge.

In conjunction with the Popham Road Bridge Replacement Project, the Popham Road Bridge will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic from 9:00 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2011, until 6:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011.

The Bridge closure is necessary for contractors to install the structural steel on the north side of Bridge which requires the contractors to operate a crane and other equipment from the Bridge deck. Westbound Popham Road vehicular traffic will be detoured south on Scarsdale Avenue west to Harney Road and north to Garth Road back to Popham Road. Eastbound Popham Road vehicular traffic will be detoured south on Garth Road east to Harney Road and north on Scarsdale Avenue back to Popham Road.

During this construction activity, pedestrians must use the Metro-North and Freightway Parking Garage pedestrian bridges to cross over the Metro-North Railroad tracks.
