Release: Rosner and Filliberti Lead Democrats in Eastchester Fall Elections

Eastchester residents Anita Rosner and John Filiberti have accepted the Democratic nomination for the upcoming Eastchester Town Council race in November.

Anita Rosner said, “As a resident of Eastchester for the past 13 years, I consider it a privilege and an honor to accept the Democratic Party’s nomination. I want to give a voice to voters who feel they are not being represented by the current board’s membership. While I have served on boards and committees in the private sector, this is my first foray into the political arena. As Councilwoman, I believe I can offer a unique and fresh prospective on behalf of the people of Eastchester.”  

Anita served as Vice President and Executive Board member of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Westchester chapter. Anita also chaired a major fundraising campaign for Tuckahoe’s Immaculate Conception Church, where she and her family are parishioners. In addition, Anita is a former board member of the Bronxville Manor Association where she served as treasurer and editor of their newsletter.

As the Director of a Wall Street-based executive search firm, Anita managed the company's offices in New York, Dallas, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles as well as established their first international office in London. She went on to manage three private Madison Avenue companies before retiring to focus on her family.

"While raising my children, I've been very interested in our local government as a spectator," she said. "Now that my children are a little older, I feel the time is right to jump in and be an active participant in our governmental process."

Born in Troy, NY, Anita holds a BA from The State University of New York at Albany. She has a background in business management, having enjoyed a 15-year career on Wall Street and Madison Avenue. She has been married for nearly 20 years to Ben Rosner. Together they have two children, Simon and Juliet.

John Filiberti first moved to Tuckahoe in 1988 at The Tower Club on Columbus Avenue when the condominium opened and would move to Park Drive in Eastchester at the end of 1993. He was the first owner to serve on the condominium Board of Managers and after taking some time off, returned in 2002 and has served since – 4 years as President, and the last 4 years as Vice President.

In 1998, John was elected to the first of three consecutive three-year terms that he would serve on the Eastchester Board of Education. He served as President in 2005 and was the Chair of the District’s Technology Information Committee until he stepped down in 2007. During his tenure on the Board of Education, John worked hard to bring cost-effective technology to Eastchester’s students. As a result, Eastchester rolled out computers and peripherals throughout the district at every grade level; passed a technology bond to build out the district’s computer network; expanded the distance learning opportunities through video conferencing; and established Eastchester as one of the first districts to have a Smart Board in almost every classroom.

“I think the people of Eastchester will be happy that they have an opportunity to elect their representatives this year as opposed to having a committee select them,” said Filiberti. “Change is good and this year we are going to give Eastchester residents a choice. Having been elected three times to the Eastchester Board of Education, I think people in Eastchester know me. I think they appreciate the kind of changes I brought to the Eastchester School District, especially with regard to technology, and I’m looking at this as a way to take my community involvement to a new level.”

John has worked as a Legislative Aide for County Legislator Judy Myers since June 2010 and worked for County Legislator Vito Pinto from January 2007 to June 2010. He has also been a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson since 2002 and a small business consultant since 1999 and instructor for Pace University since 2009.

He served on the Eastchester School Foundation and Broadway Training Center Board of Directors. In 2007 he started Eastchester Kids, a not-for-profit focused on supporting Eastchester schools and the community’s children.

Originally from Queens, NY, John has been married for 22 years to Diane, and they have three children, Gabrielle (18), Dominique (15) and Gianna (9).
