3 Winning Powerball Tickets

The winning numbers for Wednesday's $1.59 billion record-breaking Powerball jackpot have resulted in winning tickets in three states

The California Lottery says on social media, “We have a winner in California! A jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Chino Hills. We’re still awaiting results from other states.”

Lottery officials said winning tickets were also sold in Florida and Tennessee in addition to the one sold in Chino Hills, which would mean at least a three-way split of the jackpot.

It it not yet known if there are jackpot winners in other states. The final jackpot for the drawing was $1.59 billion.

The winning prize for Wednesday’s Powerball lottery drawing will exceed $1.5 billion, far and away a record in the United States.

Tickets can be purchased until 10 p.m. ET in New York, though some retailers may close before that time.

According to New York Lottery officials, the estimated cash value of the Jan. 13 drawing is $930 million before taxes, and tickets can be purchased for $2 at any one of more than 2,800 retailers throughout the state.

Lottery officials remind players that they could be a winner even if they don’t win the jackpot prize. The second place prize is $1 million dollars for matching the first five numbers or $2 million if they paid an extra dollar for the Power Play feature when they bought their ticket.

The drawing will take place at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. New Yorkers can watch the drawing live on WABC.

Additionally, the winning numbers will be posted on Patch immediately following the drawing, so be sure to check back.

Just how much of Wednesday’s estimated cash value of $930 million will actually end up in your pockets? After factoring in the 8.82 percent state tax and a 25 percent federal sales tax, the sites analyists say that your average net per year would be $33,090,000, adding up after 30 payments to $992,700,000. The cash payout $615,474,000.
