Schneiderman Recruits Bronxville Resident for Transition Team

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore to co-chair Attorney General-Elect's transition team.

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore was tapped to work with Attorney General-elect Eric Schneiderman's transition team yesterday. She will co-chair the committee with renowned former Attorney General Robert Abrams and past U.S. Attorney Zachary Carter. Harlan Levy, a partner at the firm of Boies Schiller, will head the team. DiFiorie, who lives in Bronxville and raised in Mt. Vernon, was elected to the DA's office in 2006.

"This committee is a reflection of the diversity that will undoubtedly become the standard of Attorney General Schneiderman's administration," said DiFiore in a statement.

DiFiore worked as a proseutor the Westchester District Attorney's office for 10 years before being elected District Attorney, prosecuting landmark drug-related cases in the Westchester area while serving as Chief of the Narcotics Bureau.

Other notable members of Schneiderman's team include Ross Levi of the Empire State Pride Agenda, Kelli Conlin of NARAL, and Dick Dadey of Citizens Union. Eric Dinallo, a former assistant Attorney General who lost to Schneiderman in the primary, was also tapped to participate on the committee.

"I am confident that with the help of this distinguished group of bipartisan leaders […] we will assemble an office above politics and partisanship, that seeks above all to be the best public interest law firm in America," said Schneiderman in a statement.

DiFiore, a Republican-turned-Democrat who worked as a prosecutor under fabled Westchester District Attorney Jeanine F. Pirro, was also recruited to participate on Governor-elect Andrew Cuomo's transition team for the state's Public Safety Committee.
