
Remember the heat last weekend? While thousands braved long lines for the Alexander McQueen exhibit at The Met, this solo saxophone player kept everyone a degree cooler. The fountains in the background looked good enough to swim in.
It occurs to me that there isn't much of a Jazz scene in lower Westchester. I guess that's what Metro-North is for, but wouldn't it be nice to have a cool, cozy club to retreat to on these hot summer nights?
I was watching an episode of "Rescue Me" last night, and there's a scene where Tommy and Ken are driving along, trying to figure out what bar Tommy's missing father might have ducked into. As Tommy calls out possibilities, Ken mentions that most are closed - converted to nail salons.

"Nail salon." responds Ken.

Sigh.
While Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe have their share of Irish Pubs, wouldn't it be nice if one of our 372 nail salons converted to a Jazz club?
