Teen Struck by Train Close to Bronxville Station

A Bronx resident, 17-year-old Christin Weimar, is in critical condition after being hit by a train on Sunday afternoon.

A 17-year-old Bronx girl was injured on Sunday after being struck by a train near the Bronxville station.

According to Metro North spokesperson Marjorie Anders, at about 1 p.m., Christin Weimar was with a male friend—whose name has not been released—who said that the two were walking on the tracks across the stone bridge over the Bronx River, just south of the station.

With no clearance on either side of the tracks, the two attempted to outrun the northbound train, Anders said.

"The boy made it, the girl did not. She crouched down apparently trying to get out of the way. She was hit by the third or fourth car, according to the post-accident forensic investigation," Anders said in an email.

Since the area is on a curve, the engineer didn't see the teen or realize she had been hit, and continued to North White Plains, Anders said.

In critical condition, Weimar was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.

Today, Barbara DeIorio, a spokesperson for the hospital, said she is in critical condition.
