Tuckahoe Police Blotter August 16 – 22: ATM/Credit Cards Missing

A look at some of the incidents investigated by the Tuckahoe Police Department for the week of August 16 - August 22, 2010. 

August 18:

3:55 p.m. Police received a call reporting that the rear window of a resident's Mazda Tribute was broken. The incident happened sometime between 10 p.m. on August 17 and 9:30 a.m. on August 18. Officers didn't locate any rocks or debris in the car and nothing was missing from it.

August 19:

10:39 a.m. The license plate reader detected that a 2004 Subaru Legacy, which was parked on Yonkers Avenue, had a suspended registration on account of an insurance lapse. The vehicle was impounded and the owner was set to appear in court on August 24.

5:29 p.m. An officer and members of the Greenburgh Alcohol and Drug Task Force performed an alcohol compliance test at Juan & Son grocery store on Washington Street. There, police said an underage volunteer was able to buy alcohol. The clerk was issued an appearance ticket for violating ABC Law 65 – 1, underage sale of alcohol to a minor. The clerk is due in court on August 31. In addition, the incident was reported to the alcohol beverage control board.

August 21:

3:27 p.m. A resident reported to police that his ATM card and credit card were missing and money had been taken from his account. He told police that he had hired a man who lives in his building to help him with chores. That morning, the man never showed up and the resident couldn't find his wallet, he told police. A neighbor found the wallet outside. The cash was still there, but the cards were gone. The resident called his bank, which said that money had been withdrawn. The incident is currently being investigated. 

August 22:

9:34 a.m. A woman reported that she had sold her home, but was checking on the empty house every day. When she left the house on August 21, there was no damage and when she returned at 9:30 a.m. on the 22nd, the back door was broken, and seemed to kicked open. Officer checked the house and found nothing was damaged or missing.
