When police investigated, they also heard the scream, which came from the bike path near the Crestwood train station. They couldn't tell whether the noise was from a woman or from an animal, however. Officers, along with Westchester County Police, surveyed the area, but couldn't find anything.

At a little after 2:30 a.m., police received a call from a resident of 240 White Plains Rd., saying that two men had entered the house with handguns and had gone to the upstairs bedroom where Downey, a friend of the family, was staying. The resident reported that the men went through the closet and dressers and appeared to be searching for something, police said.

When police arrived on the scene, the men had already fled. With the help of the Bronxville PD, Eastchester PD and Yonkers PD, officers surveyed the area.

But after a knife, about 160 anabolic steroid pills and marijuana plants were found in the room where Downey was staying, they arrested him. Downey was charged with possession of a weapon, a felony. There may be additional charges from the drug possession as well, police said.

Downey told police that he didn't know why the men invaded the home, but police believe it was drug related. He was arraigned at the Tuckahoe Court and released on $3,000 bail.

6:02 p.m. A resident of Governors Rd., called to report that two solicitors had been ringing her doorbell. When officers spoke to the men, they said they were soliciting for donations for Urban Development Solutions. Officers told them they are not allowed to solicit in the Village without a permit.

10:42 a.m. A man was seen hitting golf balls in Circuit Park, on Circuit Ave. The park is a "passive park," meaning activities such as golf, picnicking and walking the dog are not allowed, so officers told the man he couldn't hit golf balls in the area.
