Tuckahoe Prepping For Major Snowstorm, State Of Emergency Will Be Declared

Roadways and some sidewalks are being brined to reduce initial freezing.

TUCKAHOE, NY — The Village of Tuckahoe is making preparations in advance of the major nor'easter headed to the Hudson Valley.

The Mayor Steven A. Ecklond sent the following update:

We have used our pre-storm time advantage to prepare all our snow removal vehicles and tools in anticipation of a potentially significant snow accumulation.
These efforts will continue throughout the day Monday, March 13th.
Monday we will be spreading a coating of brine on our roadways and some sidewalk surfaces which reduces the initial precipitation freezing and accumulation. The Village has an ample supply of salt and sand for this event.
Our Police Department and Department of Public Works teams are prepared for this anticipated significant weather event and we will be utilizing all of our staff and assets to protect our residents and keep our roads open and safe. The Village staff is on standby to work extended shifts if conditions warrant this.
I urge all residents to prepare for the possibility of dangerous snow accumulations and high winds from the early morning hours of Tuesday continuing all throughout the day.
I will be declaring a State of Emergency Monday, March 13 to direct all Village departments and agencies to take whatever precautions and measures are necessary to protect public safety, infrastructure and provide such emergency assistance deemed necessary.
Please use this pre-storm time advantage to prepare for this snowstorm.
