Tuckahoe Voters Reject $20.5M Bond Proposal

The capital project was going to address facility needs and educational goals.

TUCKAHOE, NY — Voters in the Tuckahoe Union Free School District rejected a $20.5 million bond proposal Tuesday. The vote tally was 441 for and 447 against.

School officials wanted the capital project so the could address facility needs and educational goals.

Highlights of the plan included adding eight new classrooms and a complete renovation and expansion of the existing gym at William E. Cottle School.

The turf athletic field at the Tuckahoe middle school and high school would have been replaced if the proposition had passed.

Taxes would have increase $598 per year for a home assessed at $8,500, under the proposal.
