Tuckahoe Woman Pleads Guilty In Mother's Death

D.A.: 70-year-old was pushed to apartment floor during argument.

A Tuckahoe woman has pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide in the February death of her 70-year-old mother in the apartment they shared.

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore said Denise Castracucco, 47, of 68 Lake Ave., faces a maximum sentence of 4 years in prison when sentenced on Sept. 27 in the death of Dorothy Carraturo.

On Feb. 8, Castracucco argued with her mother in the kitchen of their apartment. DiFiore said that during the argument, without taking into account her mother’s frail medical condition, Castracucco pushed her mother to the floor

Later that afternoon, at about 4:45 pm, one of the victim’s sons arrived at the home, found his injured mother on the couch, and called 9-1-1. Carraturo was taken to Lawrence Hospital for treatment of a broken femur and died the next day.

Assistant District Attorney Shameika Mathurin and Assistant District Attorney Laura Murphy of the Superior Court Trial Division prosecuted the case.
