Under State of Emergency, Municipalities and Residents Make Final Preparations

With the extreme outer rain bands from Hurricane Irene being felt across New York state, local officials, police departments and residents are making their final preparations ahead of this weekend's storm. A State of Emergency has been declared in Eastchester, Bronxville and Tuckahoe, as municipalities are taking every measure to prepare, protect and keep their residents informed. 

Shelters across Westchester County have started opening as of noon Saturday, including four in close promixity to Eastchester, Bronxville and Tuckahoe:

• Lincoln High School - 375 Kneeland Ave. Yonkers (opens 6 p.m.)
• PAL - 127 S. Broadway. Yonkers (opens 6 p.m.)
• Mt Vernon High School - 100 California Road Mt Vernon (opens 2:30 p.m.)
• Longfellow elementary school - 625 S. 4th Ave Mt Vernon (opens 2:30 p.m.)
