Video: Swimming for a Cause at Lake Isle
The Lake Isle Country Club hosted a pool swim for Swim Across America Saturday morning, raising money for cancer research and support for those affected by the disease.
Over 60 swimmers of all ages gathered at the Lake Isle Country Club pool early Saturday morning, each swimming 72 laps to raise money for cancer research and support for those affected by the disease. Saturday's pool swim as part of Swim Across America was one of eight such events held this summer in the Westchester and Long Island Sound area. Participants included Lake Isle Swimming and Diving Team members, local teachers and a number of local residents.
Proceeds raised went to two cancer research labs -- Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and the Swim Across America Lab -- as well as to the Cancer Support Team in Mamaroneck, a non-profit organization that offers aid to families and individuals affected by cancer.
Since its creation in 1987, Swim Across America has generated over $30 million towards the research, treatment and prevention of cancer. For more information visit the Swim Across America website.
