Westchester Jewish Music & Arts Festival

A FREE day of Jewish, contemporary and kids music, Israeli dancing, vendors, food and fun for all ages.

The 41st Annual Westchester Jewish Music & Arts Festival will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2015, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla, New York. The festival is presented by The Westchester Jewish Council, The Westchester Klezmer Program, and Kol Hazzanim – The Cantors of Westchester in cooperation with Westchester County Parks.

The event will feature a wide variety of musical performances including WELT, a musical group from the Jewish community of France who performs songs and stories of the Yiddushland. Critics describe Welt’s songs as “alternately amusing, living, moving and poignant; a strong experience full of emotion and pleasure.” Other entertainment includes Nafshenu Orchestra, a well-known Jewish orchestra known for specializing in musical versatility performing all styles of Jewish and contemporary music, children’s entertainer Bobby Doowah whose contagious enthusiasm, originality and creativity have been captivating and entertaining young children for years, and the Westchester Klezmer Program Band and Cantor Randy Herman performing with members of Kol Hazzanim - the Cantors of Westchester. In addition, Camp Zeke will lead Israeli dancing for all ages throughout the day. Face painting and balloon artistry by Maria, as well as PJ Library will also be on hand to provide additional family activities and fun throughout the day.

The event is free (including parking) and open to the public and will be held rain or shine. Attendees are welcome to bring chairs, blankets, and picnics. Kosher food and snacks will be available for purchase. A vendor exhibition area including Jewish Art/Judaica will be open throughout the festival. “There is something for everyone, from children to adults, at this festival. We hope all members of the community, regardless of faith, will join us for this very festive day”, said Elliot Forchheimer, Executive Director of The Westchester Jewish Council.
