Westchester Woman Indicted in Hit-and-Run Killing of Rival: DA

Carla Scott, 35, is alleged to have used her car to run over Glynis Pinto, 37, in a dispute over a man.

Mount Vernon resident Carla Scott, 35, was arraigned Thursday on a four-count indictment accusing her of running over and killing 37-year-old Yonkers resident Glynis Pinto in April.

Scott and Pinto knew each other and had a dispute over a man before Scott is alleged to have used her car to run her over on Warburton Avenue in Yonkers. Surveillance video showed the incident, with Scott leaving the scene after running Pinto down.

“Using a 3,500 vehicle to resolve a dispute over a man, as alleged in the indictment, has resulted in disastrous results for all involved,” said Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore in a statement. “The victim spent the last seconds of her life clinging to the hood of a car, and now the defendant, will ultimately spend a good portion of her future in prison.”

On April 18 at approximately 5:27 p.m., Scott, who was parked at the corner of Warburton and Babcock avenues drove her 2009 Mercedes Benz striking Pinto, who was standing in front of her car, according to DiFiore.

“As a result, Ms. Pinto was launched onto the car’s hood. The defendant continued to drive with Ms. Pinto hanging onto the hood for about 30 yards, until Ms. Pinto was thrust backwards onto the road, and both wheels on the right side of the vehicle ran over her resulting in Ms. Pinto sustaining multiple fractures and internal injuries causing her death,” DiFiore said in a press release.

Scott was arrested on April 22, after a joint effort by the Westchester County District Attorneys office, the Yonkers police department and FBI developed information regarding her whereabouts.

Scott, who faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison, remains remanded to custody, and her next court appearance is scheduled for June 9.

Assistant District Attorney Christine O’Connor and Assistant District Attorney Kerrie Williams of the Superior Court Trial Bureau are prosecuting the case.
