Description: Jessie Wilkerson traces the alliances forged and the grassroots movements led by women in the Appalachian South in the 1960s and 1970s. She is Assistant Professor of History and Southern Studies at the Center for the Study of Southern Culture at the University of Mississippi and winner of the Lerner-Scott Prize from the Organization of American Historians for best dissertation.
