This morning, people in Tuckahoe, Bronxville and Eastchester are talking about the death of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. The South American leader passed away Tuesday at 4:25 p.m at the age of 58.
Chavez had been fighting cancer since 2011. Vice President Nicolás Maduro will serve as interim president until elections are held in 30 days, Foreign Minister Elias Jaua told CNN.
President Obama has issued the following statement regarding Chavez' passing.

“At this challenging time of President Hugo Chavez’s passing, the United States reaffirms its support for the Venezuelan people and its interest in developing a constructive relationship with the Venezuelan government. As Venezuela begins a new chapter in its history, the United States remains committed to policies that promote democratic principles, the rule of law, and respect for human rights.”
