ā¢ Brookhaven Town Board Unanimously Approves Verizon Franchise to Build Townwide Fiber Network (messengerpapers.com) ā Brookhaven Town has approved a franchise agreement allowing Verizon to build a full fiber-optic internet and TV network across the entire town, pending state approval. Officials say the move should boost competition with existing providers and improve broadband quality, while Verizon promises union-built construction, a donated public access channel, and coordination to limit neighborhood disruption.

The Rev. Adam J. Shoemaker won the April 18 election, while one of the other finalists was the vicar of St. James Episcopal Church in Brookhaven, highlighting the townās role in diocesan leadership.
