🌱 Boyfriend Charged In Suitcase Homicide + International Bathhouse
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Brooklyn.

Welcome back, Brooklyn! I'm here in your inbox today to get you caught up on everything you need to know about what's going on around town, including news on:
- A 24 year old was charged with killing his girlfriend and dismembering her body
- A massive international bathhouse is coming to the borough
- The Nets just got a new coach, and it's not who folks expected
But first, today's weather:
☀️ Sunny, pleasant and warmer. High: 64 Low: 55.
Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:
1. D'Asia Johnson's boyfriend, Justin Williams, has been charged in her death, after police found her dismembered remains in suitcases in a Brooklyn apartment building. The 24 year old was arrested on Monday and charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of concealment of a human corpse in the death of his girlfriend, the 22-year-old Johnson. Brooklyn Attorney General Eric Gonzalez said the investigation found Johnson returned home from work on Aug. 21 and "never exited the apartment again." The young woman's remains were found on Sept. 22, and her boyfriend became the top suspect when witnesses reported his repeated physical abuse and violent threats prior to her death.
2. A massive international bathhouse is opening in Brooklyn next month. The 50,000-square-foot World Spa is opening its doors in the residential Midwood neighborhood, just off the F train's Avenue N stop at 1571 McDonald Ave. The relaxation station is just a touch smaller than Queens' 60,000-square-foot Spa Castle and the 75,000-square-foot resort-esque QC Terme on Governor's Island. The three-story World Spa will offer an impressive list of "international" services, including Finnish saunas, Turkish and Moroccan hammams, Eastern European banyas, Japanese onsens, Himalayan salt therapy, steam rooms and pools, as well as an infrared room.
3. The Brooklyn Nets have hired Jacque Vaughn as new head coach, perhaps circumventing yet another scandal. When the Nets fired former coach Steve Nash a few weeks ago, rumors spread that suspended Celtic coach Ime Udoka would replace him. Udoka is currently involved in a scandal after findings that he used crude language in his dialogue with a female subordinate prior to the start of an improper workplace relationship with the woman. The Nets is already facing a rocky start to the season after star point guard Kyrie Irving was suspended for five games without pay for endorsing an antisemitic film on Twitter and refusing to deny having his own antiemetic beliefs. Vaughn's promotion comes with a deal through the 2023-24 season, sources say.
