In the segment, which aired this morning on Good Morning America and was also posted online, Borough President Adams shares his journey in public service, from serving 22 years in the New York City Police Department (NYPD) to being elected a New York state senator, then the first person of color to be elected Brooklyn borough president. He also discusses his Type 2 diabetes diagnosis in 2016 and how he was able to reverse it using a whole-food, plant-based diet.

“A thriver is a person who steps beyond their comfort zone. We’re much more than we were told we are. The first step of going from just surviving to thriving is to believe you don’t just have to survive; you can thrive. Thanks, Robin Roberts, for sharing my Thriver Thursday story,” said Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.
