Kmart Convenience Store is Now Open inside Sears

A small Kmart convenience shop has opened inside a larger Sears store in Brooklyn. The 10,000-square-foot Kmart sells everyday items, including snacks and beverages, health and beauty supplies, cleaning supplies and pet gear.

The goal is for the first-of-its-kind, store-within-a-store concept to become a one-stop shop, selling a wide variety of “grab and go” items for the city shopper. It is a part of new initiatives by Sears Holdings aimed at better integrating the two separate brands. The first experiential concept was seen last November, when Sears opened two free-standing appliance and mattress stores. Since then, Sears has opened smaller sections of exclusively home appliances within three separate Kmart locations.

The company plans to also launch Sears appliance sections inside and next to some Kmart stores—two of them in the New York City area.
