Man Suspected Of 4 Clinton Hill Burglaries Arrested, Police Say

The spree of home invasions happened from Sept. 14-28.

BROOKLYN, NY — Police have arrested and charged a man who they think broke into four different homes in Clinton Hill this September, stealing food and tools, New York City Police Department officials said.

Ruben Ruiz, 53, has been accused of 17 counts of burglary in the second degree, police said.

According to police, the first burglary took place on Sept. 14 in the afternoon at a home near Atlantic Avenue and Saint James Place. A suspect allegedly broke into the house through a door, stole several tools valued at approximately $1,900, and then fled on a bicycle, police said.

Then, on Sept. 21, the suspect allegedly broke into a home near Lafayette Avenue and Grand Avenue through a door and stole tools valued at $1,200 before leaving the scene on a bicycle in the middle of the night, police said.

The third and fourth burglaries both took place on Sept. 28 between midnight and 6 a.m., first at a home near Atlantic Avenue and Saint James Place and then at a home near Grand Avenue and Clifton Place. In the first house, the suspect allegedly stole tools, and in the second house, the suspect allegedly took food. Both times, the suspect fled on a bicycle, police said.

None of the victims were injured in any of the burglaries, police said.
