The redesign turns Ashland Place into a one‑way street with a two‑way protected bike lane, shortens crossings, activates long‑covered signals, and eliminates a crash‑prone gap locals dubbed "Crashland."
   

2. Nurse's Death Revives Fight To Redesign Deadly Brooklyn Stretch (patch.com) — A fatal hit‑and‑run that killed nurse Jiayi Zheng in Sunset Park has intensified demands to redesign Brooklyn's dangerous Third Avenue corridor beneath the BQE. Brooklyn lawmakers are pressuring city officials and NYCDOT for a concrete safety plan, even as the administration ties major changes to a BQE renovation that may not arrive until 2030.
   

3. Vacant Bushwick Lot Set for Six New Apartments (bkreader.com) — A long-vacant lot at 115 Cooper Street in Bushwick is slated for a four-story, six-unit rental building just steps from the Wilson Avenue L station, adding new housing in a transit-rich part of Brooklyn. The project, along with another planned building in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, reflects broader post–City of Yes zoning changes encouraging more apartments near subways across the borough.
   

4. Sale of Bay Ridge Visitation Monastery Sparks Backlash (bkreader.com) — Bay Ridge residents are mobilizing after the $42 million sale of the historic Visitation Monastery campus, fearing it could be demolished for luxury apartments like many other Brooklyn sites. Community leaders are pushing the Landmarks Preservation Commission and exploring zoning options to preserve the 7.5-acre property, while the buyer says the deal isn't final and locals debate future uses like green space or housing.
   

5. New developer plans big changes to Arrow Linen site • Brooklyn Paper (brooklynpaper.com) — Residents near the former Arrow Linen site in Park Slope and Windsor Terrace are confronting a new developer's plan for four 10-story buildings with 396 apartments, keeping only 100 affordable units. Neighbors who fought for deeper affordability and a smaller project worry about strain on infrastructure and rising rents, while Council Member Shahana Hanif says she'll push to hold the developer to a 40% affordability commitment.
