Current party chair Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn is pushing controversial bylaw changes that could reshape who actually gets to vote for the next county leader this September.
   

• Brooklyn nurse killed in hit-and-run sparks renewed calls for safety improvements (abc7ny.com) — A 28-year-old nurse from NYU Langone Brooklyn Hospital was killed in a hit-and-run while crossing Third Avenue in Sunset Park, intensifying demands for safer streets. Advocates cite at least 11 deaths along this stretch since 2014, and city officials say a long-delayed redesign of the dangerous corridor under the Gowanus Expressway will finally move forward.
   

• Jack Adjmi Family Foundation (insidephilanthropy.com) — Brooklyn's Orthodox Sephardic institutions feature prominently in this look at the Jack Adjmi Family Foundation, which makes about 1,000 mostly small Jewish-focused grants each year. The fund heavily backs Brooklyn schools and Torah centers but doesn't accept unsolicited proposals, so local groups generally need existing ties within the Sephardic community to get in the door.
