Police Officer Injured In Brooklyn Car Pursuit: NYPD

BROOKLYN, NY — A police officer was injured in a pursuit in Brooklyn on Tuesday night, the New York City Police Department said.

According to NYPD officials, police officers saw a dark-colored Sedan operating in a "reckless manner" near the intersection of Sutter Avenue and Forbell Avenue at 9:32 p.m. in Brooklyn near the Queens border.

The officer tried to stop the car, but then the driver sped up toward the officer, at which point a police officer fired his gun at the driver, officials said.

After the police officer's gun went off, the driver sideswiped the police officer, injuring his leg, police said.

The driver was arrested at the scene, and the police officer was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, police said.

The charges against the driver are pending, and the incident is under investigation, the police said.

The NYPD did not confirm whether the perpetrator or his car was hit by the gunfire.
