Subway Operator Got Beat Up For Asking Man To Stop Smoking Weed: NYPD

BROOKLYN, NY — Detectives are looking for a man who beat up an MTA train operator in Brooklyn, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the police, on Nov. 1 at 8:45 a.m., the subway operator saw a man smoking marijuana on the southbound 3 train platform at the New Lots Avenue station.

When the MTA employee asked the man to stop smoking, the perpetrator punched the victim multiple times in the head and body, knocking him to the floor of the platform, police said.

Then, the perpetrator fled the scene on a southbound 3 train, officials said.

The victim, a 58-year-old man, sustained pain and bruising from the attack and was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Brookdale in stable condition, police said.

Police said that no arrests have been made yet but that the investigation is underway. Police did not provide a description of the suspect.
