Community Gathers To Honor 7‑Month‑Old Killed In Brooklyn Shooting
Baby Kaori Patterson-Moore was fatally shot at a Williamsburg intersection last week, according to police.
BROOKLYN, NY — Mourners filled a Williamsburg street Sunday, gathering to honor 7‑month‑old Kaori Patterson‑Moore, the baby killed in a shooting that police believe was fueled by gang violence.
The vigil, led by city clergy and community leaders, served as both a tribute and a call for peace.
The 7‑month‑old was fatally shot at the corner of Humboldt and Moore streets in Williamsburg around 1:25 p.m., police said.

The baby’s mother was pushing the stroller when two suspects on a moped pulled up and the passenger opened fire. She ran into a nearby bodega to escape the gunfire and then realized her baby had been shot.

The community held a vigil on the eve of Easter Sunday at noon at the corner of 110 Moore St. Organizers said the gathering was a time to pray, reflect, and support one another as neighbors mourned the devastating loss.
Among the mourners was New York Attorney General Letitia James, who called for more action to end what she described as “senseless violence.”
Mayor Zohran Mamdani also condemned the shooting, calling it an “unthinkable loss” and saying, “We cannot accept this violence as normal. Too many families have suffered this pain.”
In the days after the shooting, police arrested 18‑year‑old Matthew Rodriguez after tracking the suspected moped driver to Pennsylvania, officials said.
The alleged gunman, 21‑year‑old Amuri Green, who was seen riding on the back of the moped, was arraigned on charges including murder and attempted murder, court records show.
Police are also investigating whether the baby’s father was the intended target in what they believe may have been a gang‑related shooting, according to reports.
An investigation remains ongoing.
