Brooklyn Nonprofit Opens Application for $1M in Grants

Brooklyn Communities Collaborative (BCC)is pleased to announce an additional $1M investment in its Strong Communities Fund, which aims to supply community-based organizations with the necessary resources to serve the borough of Brooklyn. The non-profit is currently accepting applications for projects focused on COVID-19 outreach and improving accessibility for testing and vaccination.

To qualify, interested organizations must:

• Prioritize zip codes with high rates of COVID-19 infection and/or low rates of testing/vaccination;
• Demonstrate a commitment to equity – serving high-need populations with leadership and staff that are reflective of the community being served;
• Provide evidence of existing efforts or demonstrate the ability and capacity to operate community-driven outreach projects;
• Provide an outreach plan.

Applicants can request up to $75,000 for relevant projects, and will be evaluated by approach, creativity, and additional services coupled with testing/vaccination outreach efforts. Existing Strong Communities Fund grantees are encouraged to apply if they are proposing a different project.

Applications are now open on the Brooklyn Communities Collaborative website, brooklyncommunities.org/scfgrantees/scfapply/. The application deadline is October 29, 2021 11:59 PM.

Interested parties are also invited to join Brooklyn Communities Collaborative’s Strong Communities Fund Round Two Information Session on October 12, 2021 at 12pm. Earlier this year, BCC’s Strong Communities Fund met its initial goal of distributing $3 million in relief to community based organizations serving communities hard-hit by COVID-19.
