Hitman Hired To Kill Husband For $900K Convicted In Brooklyn, Prosecutors Say

Kirk Portious was found guilty of shooting Omar Murray so that his wife, Alisha Noel-Murray, could collect $900,000 in insurance money.

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — The hitman hired to kill a Brownsville man so his wife could collect $900,000 in life insurance has been convicted of murder, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office announced Wednesday.

Kirk Portious, 29, was found guilty of shooting Omar Murray, 37, in his home at 204 Lott Ave. on Feb. 24, 2013 at the behest of Murray’s wife, Alisha Noel-Murray, prosecutors said.

Noel-Murray, 29, had already tried and failed to poison her husband when she asked her boyfriend, Dameon Lovell, 33, to hire a hitman for her, prosecutors said.

Lovell obliged and promised Portious $3,500 to take Murray out after another shooter tried and failed to kill him on Feb. 6, according to prosecutors.

Noel-Murray gave Lovell a gun, which he passed along to Portious with a $500 down payment, said prosecutors.

Days after Portious killed her husband, Noel-Murray tried to cash in the $900,000 insurance policies she had placed on her husband’s life, said prosecutors.

Noel-Murray and Portious were convicted with help from Lovell, who agreed to help prosecutors investigate in exchange for a 15-years-to-life sentence, prosecutors said.

Noel-Murray and Portious will be sentenced June 29 and face a life sentence without the possibility of parole, prosecutors said.
