Man Arrested for Trying to Steal MTA Guard's Gun, Police Say

Rodney Duncan allegedly tried to pull an MTA guard's gun from its holster in the Sutter Avenue L train station in June, police said.

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — The man accused of trying to steal an MTA security guard’s gun in the Sutter Avenue L train station last month has been arrested, said police.

Rodney Duncan, 24, has been charged with robbery for the attack on a 47-year-old MTA collecting agent at the L train station on Sutter and Van Sinderen avenues on June 11 around 9 p.m., police said.

Duncan allegedly snuck up on the MTA employee — who was guarding a technician working on a MetroCard vending machine — and tried to pull his gun from its holster, said police.

The MTA agent fought Duncan off and Duncan fled into the subway, said police.

Duncan, of East New York, was arraigned in Brooklyn Criminal Court on attempted robbery charges Thursday and held on a $25,000 bail, court records show.
