Murdered MTA Worker Was Targeted By Somebody She Knew, Family Says
MTA conductor Jacqueline Dicks was remembered as a loving mother of six, a day after she was shot in the head on an East New York street.
EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN — The death of an MTA conductor shot on the street as she walked home from work was a targeted killing by somebody she knew, her family said at a memorial for her on Tuesday night.
“I think it’s personal, not random,” said Jacqueline Dicks’ older brother Tyrone Dicks, speaking as friends, co-workers and family gathered on the East New York sidewalk where she was shot in the head Monday.
“Whoever you are, y’all were wrong”

Dicks, 41, a mother of six, was coming home from work Monday night around 11:40 p.m. when she was hit by a single bullet outside 1010 Elton Street, police said.
Tyrone, 55, remembered her as the baby sister who helped him survive the death of their mother.

“She looked after me,” he said.
The news of his sister’s death shocked Tyrone, who said she focused on her family and avoided trouble.
“We walk solid and we walk easy,” he said. “She wasn't in no gang — her gang was her kids.”
Several family members were angry at reports rehashing Dicks’ ties to Tyrone Rolle, the “Silver Gun Rapist” who haunted city streets in the 1990s. As Rolle’s girlfriend, Dicks was accused of helping him plan to murder a witness, according to a New York Daily News report.
“Leave that message about my mother in the past,” said daughter Tatiana Dicks, 24. “Because that’s where it belongs.”
“She was a very lovely lady,” added her oldest son, Michael Dicks, 22. “She genuinely loved everybody."
Michael remembered his last moments with his mother, sitting and talking with her before she went to work at the Ditmars Boulevard N train station in Queens.
“She was happy with her life,” he said. “I was just talking to her yesterday and she was laughing.”
Police declined to comment on the progress of the investigation Wednesday morning, saying only that it remains ongoing.
