Man Fatally Shot Outside Crown Heights Bodega, Police Say
John Barnes was found shot outside the Crown Deli Supermarket early Saturday morning, said police.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A man was shot dead outside a Crown Heights bodega Saturday morning, according to police.
John Barnes, 32, was found with a bullet wound in his head, lying outside Crown Deli Supermarket on St. John’s Place and Schenectady Avenue around 1:40 a.m. on Dec. 16, police said.
Emergency responders rushed Barnes to Kings County Hospital but doctors were unable to save his life, said police.

Barnes, of Crown Heights, is one of five homicide victims who died in New York City over a particularly violent weekend, police said. Another Brooklyn man was shot dead outside the Brevoort Houses in Bed-Stuy Friday night.
The deaths of three others — including a woman found on the bank of the Gowanus Canal and a 10-day-old baby in The Bronx — will also be investigated by police.
