3. Free Buffalo State program trains residents for film and music industry careers (wkbw.com) — Buffalo State University is offering a free, year-long training program to prepare Western New Yorkers for entry-level jobs in film and music post-production, with classes held twice a month on campus. Open to community members 18 and older, the initiative aims to diversify the industry and is backed by a New York State workforce grant and several local partners. 4. Defendant receives maximum sentence for beating woman with shovel (wnypapers.com) — A Buffalo man has received the maximum 25-year prison sentence for a brutal 2025 attack on his girlfriend outside their Greene Street home in the city. Prosecutors say he beat her with his hands and a shovel, causing severe injuries that required weeks of treatment at ECMC. 5. Erie Native's Restaurant Soars at Buffalo Wing Festival (erienewsnow.com) — Buffalo's signature National Buffalo Wing Festival just crowned an Iceland-based spot, Just Wingin It, with multiple top awards, including Festival Favorite and Best in Show Sauce. Led by Erie native Justin Shouse, the team highlighted the shared wing culture of Erie and nearby Buffalo, even serving wings to Bills receiver Khalil Shakir and showcasing Western New York flavors on an international stage.
