Islanders Fan Steals Laptops And Jewelry From Homes In Brooklyn And Queens, Police Say
The burglar, clad in an Islanders T-shirt, told one victim he was a detective investigating a break-in then sped away on a yellow bike.

BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN — Police are hunting for a cycling bandit who stole thousands of dollars worth of computers, designer jewelry and bicycles from homes in Brooklyn and Queens.
The suspect’s biggest caper came on May 11 around 5:20 p.m., when he stole an HP laptop, a Canon digital camera, two Kenneth Cole watches, an orange Mongoose bike and three rings from an apartment building near Wyckoff and Jefferson avenues in Bushwick, police said.
The burglar grabbed a MacBook, two rings and a bracelet — all worth about $2,280 — from a Queens woman’s apartment on 68th Avenue and 60th Street some time between 7:45 a.m. and 4:20 p.m. on April 5, said police.

Later that day, the thief was seen at Catalpa Avenue and 60th Street, where he pulled a knife on a 27-year-old woman who had caught him trying to break in around 3 p.m., police said. He didn't hurt the woman, but grabbed a bicycle and fled down Catalpa Avenue.
The burglar returned to Catalpa Avenue near 60th Lane on April 17 around 8:25 p.m. when he tried but failed to break into another home, said police.

Most recently, a 31-year-old man returned to his apartment on Putnam Avenue and 60th Street to find the suspect inside his home around 5:45 p.m. on May 16, said police.
The burglar — who was wearing a New York Islanders T-shirt, told the man he was a detective investigating a break-in, then dashed out of the building, hopped onto a yellow bike and sped away.
Police described the suspect as a man who wears an Islanders sweatshirt and T-shirt and rides a yellow Canondale bicycle.
